This is the latest series by Bobette Stanbridge called American Culture in the 20th Century by Decades . The woman in the first decade is named America and the boy named Scout in the second. Sophie is the center of the roaring 20's, Edward and Betty are the dancers in the 30's and Glenn and Edith are the iconic images of the Sailor and Nurse in the 40's. The fifty's have now been completed. They will be available soon. America has culture and we as Americans created many wonderful inventions, works of art, structures, and made great changes in the history of mankind. These paintings were done on Masonite panels measuring 4' x 6' with oils. They are montages of all that we were and were painted as exact as possible to replicate what was in that time frame. This is not a collage. A collage consists of many pieces of objects such as paper, photos, images and other materials that are glued together into one picture. A montage is a painting of several different images painted together to create one image. Many people see these originals and think they are glued pieces together.....they are painted. Each painting has taken 4 to 5 months to create. Many images came from black and white images but color was added to bring the whole picture to life. The images chosen were only the positive things that we were. The Artist has created paintings and children's books to bring positive thoughts into the observer's life.
